  4. Create stability and performance for any sailing vessel whether it be a dinghy, keelboat, monohull cruiser or cruising catamaran
  5. Master the sailor's weather and navigation planning tools for local and international daysailing, multi-day/week bareboat chartering and bluewater offshore passagemaking
 

VSC100 INTRODUCTION TO SAILING

Beginner

A full fun day on English Bay with a VSC Instructor introducing you to sailing terminology, the fundamentals of seamanship and steering a sailboat in light and moderate sea conditions

Prerequisite:
None, this is a beginner course, recommended if you are new to coastal waters or have never been on a sailboat.
Availability:
All year round in English Bay and Granville Island
Format:
NauticEd Rules of the Road and Basic Sail Trim web based pre-study is included- one day on-the water professional certified instruction Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays, 8:30AM - 5:00PM

VSC101 QUALIFIED CREW Certification

Beginner

Enjoy a weekend on Vancouver's English Bay and earn your first sailing Certification and prerequisite leading to intermediate qualifications to own or bareboat charter a cruising sailboat locally and internationally.

Prerequisite:
Non. You have some boating experience and are comfortable on the water
Availability:
Year-round.

Internationally recognized QUALIFIED CREW COURSE
Format:
Practical on the water 2-day weekend courseo on Vancouver's English Bay leaving the dock on Granville Island. You may also consider taking this courses as one of the two courses taken during a 7-day Cruise & Learn Adventure to Gulf IslandsDesolation SoundBritish Virgin Islands, Corfu, Greece ( Sept. 2017) or the Caribbean Grenadines Islands (January 2018)

VSC202 SKIPPER SMALL KEELBOAT Certification  

Beginner/ Intermediate

The NauticEd Skipper Small Keelboat course is for those wishing to successfully master the skills needed to sail a boat in the 18 to 25 ft range. The course covers everything from the outboard engine and maneuvering skills to sail trim and understanding how to be a true leader on a small keelboat.

VSC203 COASTAL DAY SKIPPER Certification  

Intermediate

Foundation sailing knowledge, seamanship, boat handling skills, and navigation for coastal cruising during daylight hours within sight of land.

Prerequisite:
VSC101 Qualified Crew, RYA Competent Crew,  CYA Basic Crew or ASA101 Basic Keelboat or successful Test-Out

Format:
Includes NauticEd Day Skipper pre-course study. Practical on the water 3-day weekend course in Howe Sound. VSC204 BAREBOAT CRUISING MASTER Certification 

Intermediate

Learn how to Skipper an auxiliary powered cruising sailboat (or catamaran when available) of approximately 30 to 45 feet in length. Complete Coastal Navigation certification, understand how to complete a check-out, trouble shoot the systems aboard and cruise minimum of 25 nautical miles on coastal waters in moderate to heavy weather conditions.

VSC203 Day Skipper Certification or CYA Day Skipper, ISPA Day Skipper, ASA103 or Test- Out

Internationally recognized BAREBOAT CHARTER MASTER COURSE
Format:
Includes NauticEd Bareboat Cruising Master self-paced pre=course study. Practical on-the-water 3-day weekend course in Howe Sound. You may also consider taking this courses as one of the two courses taken during a 7-day Cruise & Learn Adventure to Gulf IslandsDesolation SoundBritish Virgin Islands, Corfu, Greece ( Sept. 2017) or the Caribbean Grenadines Islands (January 2018) and 3 days on the water instruction and cruising

VSC205 COASTAL NAVIGATION Certification

Intermediate

Learn navigation theory, understand weather forecasts, develop charting skills and demonstrate GPS operations required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal and inland waters.

Prerequisite:
None. This course is suitable for Power or Sail recreational boating.
Availability:
All year round. Practical on the water 3-day weekend course in Howe Sound. VSC321 ADVANCED COASTAL OFFSHORE CRUISING Certification

Advanced

Learn to safely perform as Skipper and Crew on sailing vessels 35 to 50 feet in length in all weather conditions day and night, within 150 miles of coast.

Prerequisite:
50 days seatime as skipper or crew, NauticED Bareboat Charter Master, VSC204 Bareboat Charter Master, VSC205 Coastal Navigation Certification or ASA104

May and September. Practical on the water 3-day weekend course in Howe Sound. VSC338 OFFSHORE SAILING MASTER Certification 

Advanced

The sailor is able to safely act as crew, Watch Captain and Skipper of an offshore equipped (ISAF Cat 0) sailing vessel on offshore cruising passages and racing.

Prerequisite
VSC321 Advanced Coastal Skipper Certification, 50 days of Logged experience as Skipper and Crew or ASA 105 &106
Availability
You may during a 7-day Cruise & Learn Adventure to Gulf IslandsDesolation SoundBritish Virgin Islands, Sechelt Narrows and North Gulf Islands, Corfu, Greece ( Sept. 2017) or the Caribbean Grenadines Islands (January 2018).
