Course Overview

LEARN-TO-SAIL ! Enjoy a weekend on Vancouver's English Bay by earning your first sailing certification and prerequisite for courses to own or bareboat charter a cruising sailboat locally and internationally.

Provides the prerequisite for crewing/ rental of our J24 keelboats, VSC203 Day Skipper and VSC504 Competent Keelboat Racing Crew certification courses.

Prerequisites:

None. This is an introductory learn-to-sail course.

Note: If you haven't experienced recreational sailing or power boating in the past, we recommend our one- day course VSC100 Introduction to Sailing or our VSC English Bay Afternoon & Evening Sails as a first step.

  2. Weather and Sea Conditions
  3. Electrical Systems
  4. Auxiliary Power
  5. Standing and Running Rigging
  6. Rules of the Road
  7. Slip Departure and Return
  8. Sailing theory and simulator
  9. Communications & Navigation
  10. Anchoring and Mooring
  11. Coping with Emergencies

16-hours on-the-water Instruction from a VSC Certified Instructor:

  • Sailing Terminology Review
  • "Safety is First" boat preparation
  • Slip Departure and Return
  • Raising and Lowering the Mainsail and Jib/ Genoa sails
  • Basic Sail Trim
  • Sailing the Points of Sail and Triangular Course
  • Man Overboard (MOB) Recovery
  • Introduction to VHF and Cellular Communications
  • Anchoring and Mooring
  • Emergencies procedures

$595 per person, Special Promotion  $1075 couples/friends for courses before April 30th, $2195 private for group lessons for 3 or 5- call us for dates.
